FOREST MAN OF INDIA JADAV PAYENG [JORHAT, ASSAM]

Mulai kathoni   a man made forest is located in khukilamukh 13 km from jurhat town jadav paying also known as the forest man of india is credited with this wondrous and surreal venture.over the course of many years the planted trees one at a time transforming the area into a resereved forest that today encompasses an area of 1360 acres. The forest is currently a home for rhinoceroses Bengal tigers deer rabbits elephants and several species of  birds after this immensely successful venture payeng is attempting  to start more such projects in different parts of the state.

To urism in assam is predominantly nature based is a well established fact.its many national parks sanctuaries reserves and the wildlife that inhabit them are what draws visitors to the state eastwards of the chickens neck [the Siliguri corridor that connects the seven sister state with the rest of india.]. the forest constitute about 35% of the total geographical area of the state effectively making it a biodiversity hub. the Brahmaputra is the potent lifeblood that sustain this large  ecosystem. Assam has five national parks which 2.51% of the state landmass and 18 wildlife sanctuaries which make for 1.88% of its geographical area among these Kaziranga National park and Manas National park are world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO. Kaziranga is the largest protected area in the state with an area of 858.98 sq km followed by manas national park with 500sq km. DOLPHINS OF RIVER BRAHMAPUTRA

Dolphins of Brahmaputra the river that originate from Himalaya . this non other than the gangetic river dolphin. the river dolphin grows to a maximum length of 8 feet. weighting about 100 kg. it has an elongated beak with about 28 sharp curved teeth on both its upper and lower jaw. it flippers are broad and ressembles paddles while the dorsal fin is short yet sturdy since the dolphin breaths through its nose and has to surface once every 30-50 seconds. it reaches maturity at an age of 6 to 7 years and live upto 35 years. because of its poor eyesight the river dolphins can not be trained like the marine dolphin. and its age age span shortens considerably in captivity thus it can not be kept for shows in dolphinariums. this dolphins uniqueness lies in its highly developed sonar sense. the species evolved over a millenia in the subcontinent rivers[ Brahmaputra Ganga an Indus] which are laden with silt. the silt make the water of these rivers murky with non zero visibility thus the rive...
